Hi NightOwl; The brilliant engineers at Rambus designed a 32-bank memory structure because they didn't know what they were doing. Apparently they didn't know that this would make the die a lot bigger. There were other issues, I think, but unless you are an expert in the design of DRAM memory chips (my specialty is designing systems that use memory chips, not the memory devices themselves), you would probably make this sort of mistake. This is a great example of why it is best to ignore highly educated people who want to tell you how to do your job. (G)

Going to 4-banks will tend to slightly increase average latency.
