How do I place an image in my profile?

Each image takes additional time to download and slows down the initial display of your profile. Carefully select your images and the number of images.

To include an image, enter:

<IMG SRC=ImageName>

where ImageName is the URL of the image file. If the image file is a GIF file, then the filename part of ImageName must end with .gif. Filenames of X Bitmap images must end with .xbm; JPEG image files must end with .jpg or .jpeg.

Sometimes you may want to use the HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes to stretch or shrink an image to fit into an allotted space in your profile. The HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes let your browser set aside the appropriate space (in pixels) for the images as it downloads the rest of the file.

Example:

<IMG SRC=http://home.earthlink.net/~vgdoc/golf.gif HEIGHT=295 WIDTH=253>

One additional attribute you may occasionally want to use in the profile is the ALIGN attribute (i.e. ALIGN=left, ALIGN=center, ALIGN=right, or ALIGN=justify) I do not use this attribute often in profiles because of the limited html space. Speaking of limited space, it is advantageous to keep file names as short as possible when saving images!

For html on aligning text with the top, center, or bottom of the image or more complete explanation of above see:

Note: It is always best to save any image you want to use and upload it to your ISP and link to it directly.
