Carl, it could very well be that INTC made a "fault pas", but i doubt it. The use (in DRAM) of clocking on both the rise and decay of the pulse(while duplicated in DDR, but quite possibly in violation of RMBS' patents), showed them an immediate doubling. Lesser pins could have also be a drive. But think that the moves to fetching very large uninterrupted packets, which is the best mode for streaming video and streaming data might have been a factor as well.
