Hi B,

yep, and the following paragraph from your article says it all and you will see how too many techs are wrapped up in DRAMS, SAMS AND PAMS etc.

Intel also still considers RDRAM as its ``primary road map'' for memory technology, Sullivan said

Like I said, let's talk PSYCHOLOGY and the House's desire for money and lucre.

Think about that paragraph and the Billions to be made by INTEL with their options.

PEOPLE AMAZE ME HOW THEY GET ALL WRAPPED UP IN THE SMALL PICTURE.

I wrote this to one of my antagonist on the QCOM Thread one night after I made the prediction of $700.

" Broad ideas HATED by narrow ideas to me is a sign of progress "

Good explanation:

Why: INTEL NEEDS A FAST TRANSITION from the P3 to P4 to cut off AMD from capturing any significant market share! If AMD were not a threat, Intel would let the P3 and SDRAM die a natural death with no SDRAM support for the P4. This was Intel's old roadmap/strategy!!!!

Intel's new strategy is to introduce the P4 very quickly but this requires temporary SDRAM support until RDRAM production increases and prices come down.

Summary:
P4/PC133 covers the low end, RDRAM/P4 covers the high end. THIS IS WHY INTEL DOES NOT SEE THE BENEFIT OF ADDING DDR SUPPORT WITH THE P4. This is why they do not claim to be adding DDR support to the P4. The only thing that would make Intel change their minds was if RDRAM cost stops coming down. IMO, when RDRAM comes down to withintion -
