I agree with your premise. But, what if their invested in: a)mutual funds that have 100+ stocks. Or

b)Indexs or SPYDRS And

c) Got 20+ years to retirement?

Thanks for that excellent post. I don't have to worry too much about preserving capital, since I'm only less than 10% invested right now...but I'm thinking about your advice seriously anyway, in case this all heads much further down. My main question now to you or anyone with patience enough to take a moment to enlighten me about this is...
Why is the fear factor important and what role does it play in detecting a reversal or an approach to a true bottom? I read a lot about there not being any substantial fear indicators (I forget now what indicators those are).
Brief clarification much appreciated.
