Not Good Enough

Now that you have started you must define all that is unacceptable.

It is fine for you to have as many opinions as you like (humble or not) but once you get involved in censorship you move onto very shaky territory.

While the Supreme Court has upheld the right of private organizations to specify acceptable and non-acceptable forms of behavior within their organization (as long as those standards do not act to violate the civil rights of the members) they have clearly indicated that such guideline must be clearly and unambiguously articulated and uniformly enforced.

Given SI’s recent failure to comply with its implied contractual obligations to its members (both with regard to the provision of reliable access and privacy) I wouldn't imagine that being the Defendant in a class action lawsuit is the way in which you want to become known to your new owner.

This is not a joke. SI may be an entertainment site for you, but for me, and a number of other members, it is no less of a mission critical business tool than an online data feed or an interactive trading site. SI should begin worrying about their business and stop getting involved in these playground squabbles.

Either provide me with a link that clearly set forth what constitutes a violation or reinstate Luc.

SI's assumption that a free membership for a friend absolves it from responsibility for the damages associated with the negligent manner in which the recent system changes were made it both insulting and naive. This capricious intrusion on its members right to free speech further reinforces the fact that management has absolutely no sense of the legal responsibilities associated with running a business.

Unbelievable. You leave up #reply-14100236 which is off topic and a blatant personal attack with unfounded accusations of fraud, but you suspend someone for saying 'GFY'? Simply unbelievable.

Fortunately even (former?) S I directors tell it like it is.

A textbook perfect example of an awe-inspiring F***-it rally. (as I have explained in the past, this was a nickname we gave to rallies in Japan in the late innings of that bubble when they would just say "F***-it, the fundamentals are so bad, we better buy 'em.")

Bob,

I think that the censorious attitude exhibited here is part of the reason for the decline in membership involvement. I have learned much from the people on this thread. Other than this thread, I drop in on a few other threads from time to time, but have no special attachment there. The language here can be a bit rough, but it's nothing compared what you hear on a trading floor, or in the boardroom of this company:

siliconinvestor.com

I'll bet they are saying "Get Funky, Yaaaah!" (GFY) quite a lot right now, eh?

SI Bob,

its one thing to be suspended for cussing, chasing people from thread to thread and harassing them, or doing what you've been told not to. But to suddenly ban someone w/out warning for typing "gfy" to some numbnut that came over simply to stir up trouble is UB...

Judging from the public posts I've seen so far, most folks don't seem to agree with you.

MM

this guy is harrassing me!

So if any of us posts GFY to anyone, we will be suspended? We've been doing that for a long time. All of a sudden it's wrong, without warning? Why didn't you tell us first?
