All organized charities are corrupt.

I would prefer that Lazaro had spent the money on booze and lap dances.

From today's Washington Post:
* Elian Gonzalez will return to school today in Cardenas, Cuba.

The Cuban boy became famous when he was caught in a seven-month, international
battle between his relatives.

This week, Elian's school held a meeting for teachers and the parents of Elian's 27
second-grade classmates. One father at the meeting said they were told, "Don't be
hanging all over him. The poor kid has had a lot of problems, and everything should be as
normal as possible for him now."
The ship Elian and his mother were fleeing from Cuba in sank last November, and most
of the passengers drowned. Elian was rescued, and taken to relatives in Miami. Those
relatives thought Elian should stay in the United States. His father, who was divorced
from his mother and still lived in Cuba, wanted the boy to return.

In April, the U.S. government seized Elian from his relatives' house and took him to his
father, who had come to the United States. They went back to Cuba in June.

The 6-year-old spent some of the summer making up work he had missed, including
practicing his cursive writing.

I saw a clip on TV of Elian and his relatives closing out their vacation swimming with dolphins. Lots of American kids would be envious...
