I will add that IBM's websphere product looks solid in an exploding space, which is transaction integrity across the internet (extended enterprise java beans, I think?).

Middleware was always not that huge, until b2b. Now its coming into its own and there is an associated professional services aspect too. The only real competition from a middleware vendor is BEA and they just don't cut it as a cross-enterprise integrator.
