Sometimes I'm Competent; Sometimes I've Made Some Dumb Mistakes

I completely agree about not depending on anyone to make judgments for me, and certainly would discourage anyone from doing anything just because I said it.

I think the only way any of us can be effective at anything is when we have our own understanding. Over time I have come to value the perspective and input other people can provide in helping me reach that understanding.

My own experience is that being an effective investor is as much about knowing yourself as it as about knowing finance and economics.

I would like to think that I am open to anyone proving me wrong before the fact than to having the market prove me wrong after the fact.

I think that one of the reasons I feel as strongly as I do about SI suspending Luc is that I don't like the idea of anyone telling me whom I can or can't listen to.

If I want to ignore someone’s input, I have that choice, particularly with the Ignore feature. If someone is censored I don't get to make that choice.
