<<If it is the barrel, then I am rebarreling to 22 or 23 inches....amd making it a little heavier....also, I'll slow the twist and reload for heavier bullets....nothing like a long range bang bang.>>

For small bore center fires like a 22-250 or the lighter 223, a longer bore burns all the powder. Less blast and more velocity. Big case- small bore use a slow burning powder.

<<also, I'll slow the twist and reload for heavier bullets>>

Longer bullets are more stabile to a point. Carry energy better too.

<<the part about making the stock...now I am impressed...if I had to have carved Pinocchio....he would have been a walking stick.>>

I bought a semi inletted stock, Mausers had several different shapes plus you had to allow for the barrel size.

Cut, carbon dye, cut. Finally got it all to fit, eased the front of the recoil tang a tad. Free floated the barrel a might, glassed the inside and cured it. Did a basket weave for the forearm and handle, added a recessed steel butt plate. 10 coats of linseed oil and we be done.

I also built a recurve bow, 55 pounds pull, fit like a glove.
