It was indicated in the conference call, however, that not only will the chip begin shiping this quarter, but it will also be introduced at up to 900 MHz

Now you show me where Intel will have an Itanium fast enough to take share away the entrenched leader in this market. Remember, it's been taking a 100MHZ advantage for AMD to pry market share away from Intel.

There are possibilities beyond Intel moving up the food chain, what if SUN starts moving down into Intel's uppper midrange markets?

Paul, Sun/TI can easily bring the Sparc up to 900 MHz. That would only be a 125% increase over their current maximum clock speed. Piece of cake. ;-)
