Heard in Ford board room... Board: "Jorma, what do you mean Nokia can't supply the equipment and chips for the wireless internet in our Cars? You have always said you could." Jorma: "Of course we can, we have this great voice-optimized stuff called GSM." Board: "Jorma, this isn't a chat-line we are talking about, its data, it's the internet." Jorma: "Oh, well if that's the case, we have this great stuff called W-CDMA." Board: "Can you give us a demo?" Jorma: "Yes, say maybe in 2 years if we can coalesce it from the vapor." Board: "Say what?" Jorma: "Well its in our FUD Lab." Board: "What?"...pause... Board: "Well Jorma, every hear of On-Star? Think we should just let GM own wireless in autos worldwide?" Jorma: "Well I am on your board and you should wait for my company." Board: "Say what? Oh, and Jorma, can you bring in any satellites into the deal?" Jorma: "Uh, no, why would we need satellites?" Board: Stunned silence. Board: "Jorma, what about that pre-announcement about needing 3G the other day?" Jorma: "3G is in our FUD Lab, don't worry." Board: "Mr. Secretary, please get me that Qualcomm contract we have been sitting on." Jorma: "Who is Qualcomm?" Board: "Mr. Nasser, we hereby direct you to sign this joint venture-contract with Qualcomm." Jorma: "What? You are not delaying the future for me?" Board: "Jorma we suggest that you get your proposal from Qualcomm to Nokia out and sign it." Jorma: "What does 'being left in the dust' mean?"
