(NYSE:CY - news) today introduced the industry's first 533MHz Direct RAMBUS(TM) Clock Generator (DRCG) specifically designed for use in high bandwidth applications such as in communications, graphics and consumer applications that require precise high speed clock generation. The 533MHz DRCG will be offered in two versions -- the W134-25 and W134-35. The two versions are pin-compatible with each other and support different frequency multiplier tables to give design engineers the flexibility to choose reference input frequencies. Complementing the Cypress W134M and W134S, the industry's first RAMBUS®-validated 400MHz DRCGs, the 533MHz DRCG was designed to focus on addressing cutting edge applications that require ultra-high-speed memory. The 533MHz DRCG extends Cypress's existing line of Direct RAMBUS Clock Generators, which includes the W134M/ W134S and the high performance CY2212 DRCG-Lite, currently being used in gaming applications. ``Cypress and RAMBUS began working together early in the 1066MHz RDRAM development cycle to refine the specifications for the 533MHz DRCG,'' said Ian Chen, marketing director for Cypress's Timing Technology Division. ``With the trend towards ever-higher networking speeds and more economical memory buffers, high bandwidth is needed. By creating a high-speed addition to our family of industry leading DRCGs, we help enable the next level of performance for communications systems.'' ``In 1999, Cypress Semiconductor was the first to introduce and validate 400MHz DRCGs, and brought a DRCG-Lite to market in early 2000,'' said Steve Chen director of systems engineering, Consumer and Communications Products Division, RAMBUS Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS - news). ``By bringing the 533MHz DRCG to market early, Cypress is again showing commitment to the development of the high speed clocking solutions that support RAMBUS memory technology.'' Cypress Semiconductor is the market leader in DRCG timing products, with more than 5 million DRCG products shipped. Significant volume increases are anticipated during the coming quarters. Price and Availability Samples of the W134-25 and W134-35 are available now in 24-pin 150-mil Shrink Small Outline Packages (SSOP). Production volumes will be available first quarter of 2001at $7.50 for quantities of 10,000. About Cypress Cypress Semiconductor provides high-performance integrated circuit solutions ``By Engineers.
