consumption of Coppermines is severely understated
in Intel specs, at least by 40%. There are codes

Hi people,
My new 650 socket 370 processor is running at idel at about 40~50 oC and ranges 60~80 oC with say seti rning.
This seems a little to hot or is this normal what are you lot recording the temp as?

my proc is running around 50 degrees celcius when running SETI (39~58) with room temp of 22 degrees

If I use BurnBX, the temp goes to ~78 degrees (!). Proc is still stable then tho..

using socket 370 cB0 650 PIII @ 910 mhz (1.85 volt)

PS: coooling is an alpha heatsink (pfh 6035) with arctic cooler compound..

No wonder that secondary power supplies on Intel-based
boards may not handle this kind of current increase,
especially at 1.75V, since the manufacturers were
mislead by Intel with regard of max-power
specifications. Yet some Intel-dorks still believe
that Cumine consumes less power than Athlons...
