Yes, I have heard the same statement before.

Perhaps a national lottery should be implemented, instead of the income tax system. Imagine the bourses !

The only complain I have about these lotteries is that the departments that run them tend to become large bureaucracies that take an important % of the funds that do not end up where they are supposed to.

As for the prizes, I understand that now the option to elect for a lump sum is available.

I would happily buy lottery tickets, instead of paying personal income tax.

About the lotto:
Watch for the state gov't to donate the lotto proceeds into the education fund, then make a withdrawal from the ed fund for the same amount, and say they donated the lotto money for education. This is what IL frequently does, and the public never realizes.

There was a comedian who called the lotto a "tax on the mathematically incompetent." Anyone who has ever worked at a mini-mart can testify that it is the left end of the bell curve funding the lottery.
