OT In general, the Navy techs are the best there is.

I can't really speak for todays Navy schools. After high school, I spent 9 years in the Navy. In that time, I spent over one year full time in various electronics schools. Navy training was the foundation for what came later. After I got out of the Navy and went back home, I found the only job available was burglar alarm installer. This is technically above a cable TV installer but it was not for me. I moved my family to LA. I worked in the computer industry for four companies in five years (in order) as a test technician, test engineer, night supervisor, test department supervisor, field service engineer. During all this time, I attended night classes @ UCLA extension. I was promoted because my bosses recognized that I could solve problems much faster than my peers.

Navy training was a good start.
