tg, what really amazes me is the prices being paid for startups. It used to be that 3-400 million got you a shot at a company. Then the optical players started going for billions, which I can almost understand given the complexity and market opportunity. Now, seeing layer 7 switches going for this much is unbelievable. In any case, as long as LU loses, I am happy. tp

Telecomguy( Alcatel CS-100 & CS-800 Content SmartTM Web Switch is a compact, high
performance Web switch which provides a content provider, Web hoster, or
business critical e-commerce Web site with everything needed to optimize
content delivery for their users and customers. Featuring ArrowPoint's
patent-pending Content Smart Web switching technology, the CS-100 & CS-800

ALA has licensed Arrowpoint technology in 1999 before CSCO bought it, so they filled the hole.
I guess media was hyping the deal to some extend to justified what NT paid.
However for the reasons I have mentioned above ALA was not interested!.
IN fact ALA has recognized its weekness well before CSCO
and sure they pay fpor using it much much less then CSCO paid
for Arrowpoint.
