John,

Do you really believe Intel would release a microprocessor that "doesn't work"?

Intel has been releasing defective chipsets for some time now, and apparently they also released a bad CPU to Tom. I'm surprised that old time Intel supporters aren't outraged by the fact that this happened/ is happening.

Tom is just the messenger, not the cause of the problem.

John - a quick search of CPQ's website shows the fastest commercial desktop is an 866 clock. The Presario consumer line has 1GHz Athlon machines - a loaded configuration is $2,123 on their web site, not exactly high ticket.

DELL offers a 1GHz PIII but the price is $3,138 for almost the identical configuration. This machine is also set up for home use - unless a subwoofer has become part of the standard office setup these days...
