On a general note, wireless stocks seem to all be in the dumper. My belief is that it is because wireless data access speeds are too slow. Remember the expression "The Information Highway" getting razzed as the "Information Dirt Road?" Well the same thing is true with surfing on current phones and pdas like the Palm VII.

If it takes you five minutes to get to the info you want, people aren't going to use it that much. As speeds increase, so will usage, new phones with better screens and surfing buttons will be sold, and we'll all start getting richer again, instead of poorer.

The argument is about which telematics approach serves the needs of 70% of the world's mobile subscribers. The argument could also be in which markets telematics will really take off first. I would say that markets with good road coverage are the best bet.

Just for the hell of it, I drove last month from Century City to Malibu Beach with a borrowed Sprint phone. So don't try to pull a fast one over a dim Finnish friend about the quality of the US coverage. I'm on to you.
