I also saw an HDTV the other day, and I agree that it looked good. But I worry about the presumed inevitability of its adoption. When it dawns on the American public how much they are going to be asked to spend to replace everything, I wonder if we not might see political fallout sufficient to convince Congress to step in and mandate further delays in any forced changeover. Will the average person care about the superior technical quality enough to want to spend the money? I don't think anyone knows the answer to that yet.
