Yes of course prices will come down, but by how much, and how quickly? Remember, it's not just a matter of replacing one TV, but every TV in the house, and the VCRs too. Converter boxes are available, but that amounts to forcing people to spend money just to keep what they had before. The FCC's plan to free up existing analog TV spectrum in five years or so just seems ambitious to me.
