I know the question always arise about how to keep the shorts from borrowing long's shares. I asked the question of National Discount Brokers, where I keep three of my IRA accounts. Here's there answer. Since there is no margin on IRA accounts, the answer is no, my shares can't be borrowed. From NDB: Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for your email inquiry. As long as you do not have margin on your account, your shares can not be lent out for shorting.
