Carl is renowned for his selective technical recall.

He always neglects to mention that the Playstation II is a graphics product which is exclusively RDRAM. Moreover, it looks like Sony is pushing on with development of a successor product with the new QRSL RDRAM. Needless to say the playstation is enormously successful. Millions of units are being sold each month. Sony is floating a 2 billion bond issue to pay for expansion of PS II production. RDRAM is also the basis for Sony entertainment systems for home and theatre.

Sunw's MAJC graphics processor uses Rambus. It is just getting started so we will have to wait to see its significance. Nintendo also use RDRAM albeit the older generation. I would expect to see RDRAM based graphics systems utilizing the new generations of QRSL RDRAM in PC add on cards.

The PS II has a cost advantage due to the use of RDRAM.
