Sarmad -

So far 15 samples of HDD SCSI (enterprise) drives dropped an average of 2.5% this quarter. Nothing unusual yet but the average drop of all 98 SCSI samples was 1.4%.

I thought the component shortage was slowing the production of PC's. The slower production of PC's would mean slower orders for drives by OEM's. This would impact desktop drives more than enterprise.

Since all my samples are retail and not OEM I might be getting a blurred picture. The enterprise drive prices have been more stable than desktop this quarter. The higher capacity desktop drive prices have been more stable than the lower capacity drive prices. Maybe a component shortage reduces the supply of the low price desktop computers. Manufacturers may use available components on higher margined higher performance computers.

Regards,
Mark
