Samsung, Hyundai Electronics See Increase in Chip Sales During First Half
August 1, 2000 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. enjoyed higher sales of semiconductors during the first half of 2000.



According to statistics released by IC Insights Inc., a U.S. market research firm, the two firms stepped up as the world's fifth and eighth biggest sellers of chips during the first half of the year.

Samsung and Hyundai had ranked at 6th and 15th as of 1999.

IC Insights said Samsung's overall sales will double to US$9 billion this year.

Intel continued to remain the world's largest chip supplier, followed by NEC Corp. and Toshiba Corp.
