Hi Eric K.; One of the cool things about not being a manager (particularly a manager at a strict top down company like Intel) is that your work buddies can tell you you're a jerk when you say something out of line.

Paul was a senior manager at Intel back when you could tell anyone pretty much anything, with no consequences, provided he or she was below you in the organization. The end result is similar to the "Emperor's New Clothes". You can be pretty delusional about interpersonal communication. Paul doesn't have a lot of friends. (Wonder why?) So he hangs around here in his old age. It is not a pretty thing to do to yourself, letting yourself become a manager.

There are exceptions, companies where that sort of behavior is not tolerated. But I bet that Intel was not one of those.

at how much money other people have lost on options transactions, as he so kindly did on the AMD thread to niceguy and a few other<<

Eric-

Have you read Niceguy's hundreds of posts predicting moonshots for his AMD holdings and disaster for Intel? In the face of the fact that Intel is down less than 10% from its all-time high and AMD is down > 25%, he and others just keep it up. Never a sign of embarrassment, though Niceguy did admit he had suffered some big losses on his July holdings.
Just yesterday, Niceguy was spouting about how a close above 73 for AMD would be confirmation of imminent moves to the 90's, or some such drivel. He didn't favor us with an analysis of what a close BELOW 73 would mean.
Can you honestly tell us that Niceguy's posts are not incredibly irritating? If you set out to intentionally annoy people, you should not complain when those same people take a certain amount of pleasure in your misfortunes.
