I still use the product a lot and voice quality etc. is noticeably better than say 6 months ago. Also always get through now, whereas earlier sometimes contention. But this is via PC. The Yap jacks have just come to Bermuda and they are selling for about $350. It enables people without pc's to use the net to call overseas at about 10 cents per minute versus the $1.10 charged by Cable and Wireless. I have to believe that there is revenue opportunities elsewhere in Europe/Latin America etc for this same magnitude of savings for at least the next 3 years. I haven't tried yet, but I bet sound is better than via pc, since it is a dedicated hardware modem for VOIP and the handset automatically eliminates the acoustic feedback that many idiots set up and then complained about. As far as costs, they have the gateways in place, and the marginal cost of a call is really peanuts...basically what they get charged by IDTC for the pipes (0.5 cents/?) plus the termination charge which I believe is a flat fee as well. The Net2Phone for free model via MSN Aol etc does offer the ad banner on the phone, and I am sure it will result in a steady growing revenue stream, not huge, but palpable. Of all the dot coms, this one is real and will have a bottom line...just haven't seen any published projections so we are all in the dark. The Ireland VOIP project with the Irish telecom is also a harbinger of other deals to come. Don't know the exact revenue model, and this is bothersome, but there has to be a slice of the gross charge to consumer...plus a charge for the gateways, or a license fee per min no? VOIP is also coming to Bermuda via one of the ISP's who have installed their own gateway. Cost will be 44 Cents / min which is better that the monopoly provider by a lot, but still 300% more than with a Yap-based solution. I am starting to think NTOP is a good value currently, and BTW I have owned and sold previously at 35 and 60 feeling it was a little rich, and never understood the 90 dollar high... I'll bet they give us a chance to look under the bonnet sometime soon. Don't forget a lot of executives there are quite hungry for a booming stock price for their options. All IMHO, fB
