suzette- sailboat race and pot luck BBQ report: took 6th out of 13 boats in the race. a big blow came up in the middle of the race and scattered the field of racers all over the place. i lost my favorite hat and kath mutinied - said the wind was MY fault. i had to take down the BIG racing sail to save my relationship. (oh lordy, the sacrifices a sailor makes) then about 45 minutes later the wind stopped (so did my boat). kath wouldn't allow the BIG racing sail to go back up - the last 1/2 mile took about an hour. the only way i got 6th was that 7 boats went back into the marina without finishing the course (i think they had mutinies of their own to contend with). BUT!!!! the chicken/pineapple/cherry shiskibobs took 1st place in the BBQ! they were wonderful. i couldn't locate any honey/pineapple BBQ sauce in my grocery store so i substituted a tropical marinade with mango and papaya... i also added some washington walla/walla?? onions and some red and gold bell peppers... oh, and i alternated the chicken breast pieces with some lean pieces of pork loin. i had some macadamia nuts on the side (too lazy to drill them to put them on the skewers) <G> hey! that carrot thang sounds fabulicious. i'm going to try it... maybe i can make it for the next race Labor Day. dealie and red are coming. i need to impress them. thanks for yer help. -crepes polvito
