Right now it seems that competition is heating up from TyCom. Now I personally think that all the undersea cable that gets layed will be used so there is room for both (and the lesser undersea ventures by LVLT and partners). It's just that it will be hard to have a commanding or defining position in this area.

"It gets evermore expensive to lay transoceanic fibre optic cable." Why? It seems to me that with experience and automation it ought to get cheaper. But of course I don't know the field. What is your evidence? (See, I'm learning from Merlin to be scientific.)
