The Uglyness of Single Transport

We all remember when we had a single mean of transport into our houses. A twisted pair carrying voice only. And we can compare today with the plethora of access means that are coming on stream.

I have built access all over the world -only missing North America- and I have seen the damage done. I do not miss the CCITT times. Neither telephone as a luxury item.

Today when I see wireless pre-paid taking over all developing countries and de-regulation and competition putting those stateowned enterprises to run, I can say we should celebrate competition.

The more access means and types available for us to reach the customers the better. There won't be a winner takes it all. There will be a mix of technologies and networks and operators. And that will be good.
