Freeus: I agree that it's essential...

...that we 'look back' on what we perceive as 'mistakes' we have made in the past, but ONLY from the perspective that we analyze our greed/fear emotional 'quotient' that 'forced' our decisions.

Other than that, I see the past as a USELESS INDICATOR as a 'success predictor,' or a productive tool, for us to move forward.

This basic philosophy makes me think technical analysis is virtually useless.

Chart readers know NOTHING that will predict the future.

Sorry to be so blunt -- this is just my personal philosophy -- not in any degree intended to 'insult' those who believe (rather, use, sophisticated T/A knowledge to their advantage to maximize success in their own portfolios).

The only way my 'past' has been useful to me is to analyze the emotions that led me to make my own decisions in hopes of avoiding similar or identical emotional pitfalls or traps that will hinder my future decision-making ability.
