Dear JCJ: I didn't know what the Mercedes ML-320 looked like so I went over to their site and took a look. Nice looking car and wow, was I ever surprised at the price. It does look like a great deal.

While over at the Mercedes site already, I found the car I would consider buying (despite the sticker price) if in the market for a new car right now, the E320 wagon.

One of the options is 4 wheel drive. From the side, it looks just like an older model Taurus/Sable wagon.

Volvo has a 4 wheel drive station wagon, too, called the Cross Country:

I like the looks of the Mercedes better.

Both these new offerings go with a newspaper article my parents sent me this spring from San Francisco. The article was about how SUVs were on their way "out" whereas station wagons are the new, "in" car. A number of people and representatives from manufacturers were interviewed for the article.

In or out, I like station wagons. 4 wheel drive station wagon with leather seats, manual transmission, sun roof [Mercedes has this option], cargo rack on roof, and *turbo diesel*--that's my real ultimate car.

Regards,

Lynn
