David -- I met one of NUFO's board members today and he said manufacturing was progressing well and the company's expanding both domestically and in China. I commented on their quarterly numbers and he said they're spending a lot to ramp capacity. A couple comments from the conference: * Nodes are doubling every 18 months. Optical networks are doubling every 9 months. * For every $1 spent on the backbone, $10 will be spent on metro and $100 on access. Lower prices but far great volume. * For MANs to ramp we need mass manufacturing of testing equipment, reduced insertion loss of DWDM systems, and more highly integrated add/drop multiplexers. We know PIRI's working on the last. In fact, there are only 3 or 4 companies in the world that have optical waveguide fabrication and PIRI's one. Pat
