Doug:
AMD really sank through its SOX today.

It must be a late reaction to the 1.13 Ghz P3 of smaller private investors.
You would expect everybody to know this weeks in advance. Pity them, they sold at 67...
I saw mostly small trades and a few really big ones (100,000..130,000)
I did not see much of those typical size ~10,700 asks which seem to indicate sales of some institutes.

At the contrary: If you look at Thomson I watch (I from institute) then you see nothing but heavy
institutional buying all day long! Yes it were those small private investors. They read their morning
paper, started thinking, panicked, and sold...
Poor guys.

"Their shares now rest in peace and are in the save hands of the holy institute"

I guess that AMD will align back with SOX in the coming few days.

Have a look at Thomson I watch: (Enter ticker AMD)

and the AMD/SOX chart you requested:

"Q3 sold out, Durons from Big OEM X, Mustang demo, ..."

The "Q3 is sold out" statement from the CC has been reiterated several times by AMD. I do not agree that this is a positive statement. The reasons are as follows. AMD has given some guidance on estimated production volumes and the analysts have given their opinion on earnings for the next quarter. So, with Q3 production being sold out (whatever that means) there is no additional upside potential for Q3. As an investor I have to ask why no upside when Dresden is just starting to ramp. AMD can't squeeze a little more yield out? It is my opinion that this lack of a potential is a factor is the recent price performance of the stock (down ~ 25 points).

Being sold out means missing what ever upside the second half-year business that may occur and puts AMD in the same situation that Intel was last quarter with their production shortages and lost business. The sold out condition is occurring just at the time when Intel is getting more production out.

AMD should modify this sold out statement to one that states that AMD can take additional incremental business do to increased efficiencies.
