ATHM is not in control of subs rate. They are completely at the mercy of MSO. The only thing ATHM can do is spend money on ads. Please don't say "duh", because this is often forgotten.

ATHM's ads are little more than muddled jingoism. They make no effort to establish product differentiation. They're following a standard strategy cooked by Madison Avenue types in order to sell soap. They think they need cute visibility since that's what Madison Avenue claims is what sells. But the marginal return isn't worth the marginal cost because the ads can't increase the subs rate at scale. They need to create ads that show why people looking at a faster connection should go with cable without mentioning the alternatives. They have to make an argument to get people to wait for a superior connection. Cute aping of Apple's ads and hollow meaningless claims on speed acceleration isn't going to accomplish anything.

Bell has no idea about this. He has delegated ad responsibility to a clown who claims to know all about ads. The proof of that knowledge is the empty presentations we're getting on TV. It's a waste of money. Bell is not a CEO. So why would you think he has anything up his sleeve? He's just some damn puppet who hasn't a clue and hides in his office when he is in town, when he is in town.
