That could be a BIOS setting problem, try turning off 4x agp if it is on (it doesnt help much anyway). Also, turn of video caching if it is on. Shared interrupts can also be a problem, you may need to move one of the PCI cards to change the interrupt usage.

Do you have a GeForce video card? If so, the drivers could be the problem. Make sure to have the new Detonator 2 drivers (version 5.22) installed and don't forget to install the Via 4-in-1 drivers. The Via chipset doesn't "like" Nvidia cards (or vice versa), so they often cause games to freeze. Word, Netscape etc. doesn't use the hardware acceleration (DirectDraw, Direct3D) of your video card, so the problems don't show up.

you play broodwars? woohoo!!!! Don't feel bad, broodwars locks up my comp all the time and i'm running win2k!!! I have a celeron though. What os are you using ?
