Russo was very dynamic and fun to listen to. The Opticon event however outlines the lack of direction in the industry and a clear game plan by Nortel to not add to the collective understanding. IMO this will be a mistake. They should be in there guiding direction so it supports/validates their product roadmap.

Still the focus has mostly been on metro and edge technologies..

The Multiservice Platform Provisioning Session was a joke. Just goes to show that the companies in this space still don't really understand what service provisioning is. The view is still on provisioning bandwidth - not service.

The debate on "Is QoS still neccessary with Fat Pipes" was intresting. Seems like the argument went something like "bandwidth will be plentyful and basically free so you won't need QoS". Seems to argue for a true service provisioning (read revenue generating) strategy.... if you know what i mean. ;)
