How long have 1.13GHz PIII's been available in quantity for testing? Intel's comments in Tom's article indicate that there aren't very many parts, and they haven't been around very long.

Intel is screwing up big time here. "If it looks like a frog, it is a frog".

Explain to me a test methodology which involves a BIOS driven microcode patch to fix a speed path.

Do Intel testers load microcode before running test? How could Intel know that a part is supposed to run at speed, with incorrect microcode? Your arguments are absurd, and you are going to end up looking very silly if you continue defending this obviously flawed launch.
