LISBON, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Portugal Telecom's new economy subsidiaries PT
Prime and Tradecom are launching a venture together with Brazilian and
Argentine partners to offer business-to-business (B2B) and e-commerce
services in Mercosul countries, the company said on Wednesday.

Telecom said that its allies in the new venture were Brazil's Unibanco and
Grupo Financiero Galicia and Banco Galicia from Argentina.

Investment's would total $100 million, although the company gave no
timeframe.

Mercosul is a free trade area made up of Paraguay and Uruguay as well as
Brazil and Argentina.
