OT

Since others have gotten high-end help picking a digital camera, let me ask about the other end.

I need a simple camera for taking work application shots. It must have a flash and I'd like it to have a CF slot or similar. I'd prefer a USB connection as well, if affordable.

Are there models out there with these features for under $300? What resolution would i be looking at?

Thanks all,
Buzz

Art,
Yes it is better technology, but not cost effective for an MP3 player by a very large margin. However here is a device which should have a huge market, the eBookman.

franklin.com

This is very moderately priced and does so much. Download an read electronic books, download and play audio books, and as just one feature, will play MP3 files. Now this thing should really sell! IMHO

I agree with you Art. But Steve is looking at it in the short term. I feel it is just a matter of time before we get flash memory increases in the amount of memory they can hold and the price will fall to a reasonable level it will be the end of cd's as we know it. I know I would rather have a flash card (are gig cards a possibility?) that I could play on my walkman, car and home stereo and my PC.

But before that happens I could see DVD recorders and players replacing cd's in your car and home. You could rip 40 to 50 better then cd quality songs to a dvd. That's if the music industry doesn't try to kill it.
