Petrobras International Chooses FileNET
Panagon Web Content Software for Corporate
Intranet Application

PR Newswire - August 02, 2000 12:22

Jump to first matched term

SAO PAULO, Brazil, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Petrobras Internacional S.A.-
Braspetro, a subsidiary of the Brazilian petroleum firm Petrobras responsible
for the prospecting and production of oil and gas outside the country, has
chosen FileNET Corporation's (Nasdaq: FILE) Panagon(TM) Web Services
software for managing the content of its applications and the automation of its
business through the Web. This system will benefit 170 employees at the
company's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and approximately 700 professionals
in other sites that Braspetro operates in thirteen different countries.

"All of Braspetro's internal communication is electronic, including
communication between its branches," said Carlos Jabour, head of the Support
Area and coordinator of the project within Braspetro. "Since we needed to
speed the search of documents and facilitate management of our company's
data, we studied several alternatives in the market and concluded that
FileNET's Panagon was the best one to address these issues."

The installation of the software, as well as the migration of existing electronic
documents and maintenance were commissioned from Datafix, a FileNET
representative in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with FileNET ValueNET(R)
partner OR Service in Sao Paulo.

The first phase of the project was concluded in June 2000 with the installation
of enterprise licenses at Braspetro's headquarters. The second phase calls for
the installation of Panagon software at the firm's Bolivian operations. Braspetro
also plans to install Panagon in the other countries where it operates.

The Panagon Web Services software will allow Braspetro employees to access
and update electronic documents and content, through its corporate Intranet.
The entire information database of the company will be managed and organized
by the software, which is designed to easily handle the process -- and content
-- centric aspects of applications to support such a system on the Web.
