I understand what the article is getting at BUT don't all the other businesses GE is in have any value????.....of course they do,...especially after second-quarter earnings report.....GE is NOT a financial services company....they are a conglomerate which is growing all of its divisions.

"Each of its eight business units reported double-digit earnings gains during the second quarter. The company's power systems division, which manufactures gas turbines, led the way with earnings up 46% over a year earlier."

There are many more examples in the IBD article I can quote.....you cannot compare GE to other financial services companies because GE also happens to sell light bulbs, etc. which "helps it avoid cyclical ups and downs."(Burce Rabbe, analyst at Collins and Co.
