Robert -- I think the concept is to hard-wire the battery into a cell phone -- with the battery having more capacity than could reasonably be used by a busy user in one day. The underlying assumption being that the user sleeps sometime during the day or night -- when the battery could be recharged. Wouldn't make sense, for example, in a laptop where the battery might only last 6 hours -- and the user is then out of luck until the internal battery recharges.

Robert,

Check out the current Palm PDAs. Many of them already use this type of "sealed in" battery setup. Hasn't bothered the consumer yet....
