large gains, i sell half .. at least i cover my principle (mainly i do this for my long term core holdings)

for s/t trading.. that's why entry is important.. buy near supports.

"When I have been successful I use a 10% stop."

My tactics as well. I wait until I am actually showing a profit before placing the stop. I have also found that 15% is a better gap to have, as I often been whipsawed by crafty mm's
