is that rocket science or something? A friend of mine has a good philosophical way of looking at this stuff. Whenever he goes through the fast food drive through and they screw up his order, he says something like, "You know what, it's a good thing that these people are working here flipping burgers instead of doing something really important, like safety director at a nuclear power plant or something. Then we'd really be in trouble." Imagine if SI's programmers were in charge of missile defense or nuclear power safety or, yes, rocket science. If they were, we'd walk around looking up at the sky, afraid that the latest launch disaster would be about to land on our heads.

Another amusing/frustrating thing about SI's ineptness is that they weren't interested in hiring me as a consultant to help them out with their UI. They weren't very concerned about my help, as they told me it would be easier for them to implement BrowseMaster features into their UI than it would be for me to learn their system. Apparently they haven't even mastered their own system yet. Maybe if they ever figure it out, they'll be able to add some neat features to it. In the meantime, it's too bad they discourage 3rd party developers from trying to profit by adding value to their service.
