Rose:

This is really OT--for you and anyone else who reads the board.

My daughter-in-law is an excellent photographer. Several years ago we gave her a pretty good SLR multiple format camera. Now, her husband says that for her birthday later this month he thinks a digital camera would be a good idea. That's just fine with me but I know nothing about such things. I found cameracentral.com with prices and descriptions of 50 digital cameras but most of the talk there is beyond me.

From what I have read, a good digital camera would set me back well over $1,000 and I might have to sell a few shares of QCOM to do that. Are any of the less pricey cameras worthwhile? I'm thinking of the $500 to $600 range. What do you suggest? What are the most important features I should look for? Help!
