It is true in a technical sense. Most wealth is hypothetical, that is, it resides in factories and farms and real estate across the globe. The people who own it, either through their portfolios or deeds or because their deposits back the loans that were made, no more control it than you control the weather. Nor do they consume it. Most of it stays safely in productive investment. The managers on the ground exercise more real control than the owners........

Remember, there is a sense in which the bank owns most people's houses, and a sense in which they own them.......
