Ian, There is no limit to "the effort" to play mind games with the non existent DDR platforms. If Ali is just starting Alpha phase, there is no telling when they will finish Beta testing. It might be never! It is looking like Q1 or Q2 of next year assuming nothing major go awry before there is any significant volume of DDR in PC's. By the time they launch DDR product the P4 will be in command of the performance end of the market (assuming nothing major goes awry). Also the cost of RDRAM will be way down and the cost of DDR will be relatively high for want of an earlier production ramp. No economies of scale for DDR in this time frame! Perhaps, this is why AMD's stock is crumbling as the P4 launch and the IDF gets closer! :)
