Men and women use the word "love" as a pleasing alternative to what they really mean such as: lust after, financial support, avoid loneliness, someone to do things with. Grown children "love" their parents because they think they owe them something. Young children don't know the meaning of the word because all they can do is take. Nature made them completely self centered for survival purposes. Parents say they "love" their children because society says they are supposed to even though many parents secretly wish they never had children in the first place. "Love" is nothing more than a mutual satisfaction of individual needs. When one of the party's needs are no longer satisfied "love" turns to disappointment, anger and finally dissolution of the relationship.>> James: What you describe as "love" is the individual's classic search for meaning/truth/energy/value against the the opaque loneliness of a dark world. I don't claim to be a historian, but I'd guess that your "pleasing alternatives" define instinctively selfish human behavior which have been misconstrued as "love" since the dawn of history. Love has nothing to do with the horizontal, quid pro quo exchanges of time, energy and value that characterize most of what we refer to as social interaction. For love defies everything in the horizontal - ie. worldly -realm. Mankind doesn't know where the energy and light of real love comes from. So we reduce and simplify love to finite boxes with labels we can measure: "satisfaction", "need" and "survival." Love has no beginning and no end. It's always on. It's infinite. It's viral. It's the source of all light, joy, peace and happiness. And you can't define, label, limit, restrict or control it. It burns away darkness and all things that are hidden come to light. Individuals that have thrived by withholding, defining, labeling, limiting, controlling become completely and utterly at a loss for what to do, how to act, react, etc. The Internet is a pure manifestation of this power coming to light in a world we used to think "we" could control. Power, politics, business and money will never be the same. For everything Old is turned upside down. Business gets checkmated. Service rules. The individual is sovereign and supreme. Simple question: If you aren't helping and serving others, then what are you doing? Answer: Taking energy from others to satisfy your selfish needs. This idea of freely, openly and selflessly helping and serving others wars against our ego and selfish, controlling natures. BS, you and others will say. Companies, governments, money, fear and power will always rule individuals. Taking, abusing, ruling will always be "the way." Nope. For love and light which comes from inside all of us is far stronger. And this is the time in world history where all this is "coming to light." Peace. ...........
