Thanks. From a stock perspective when Andrew hit about $15Billion was taken out of the insurance industry surplus (capital) on an after tax basis. While an initial hit to earnings the reinsurers stock prices doubled in 6 months as the industry was able to raise prices for the 1st time in years.

The reinsurance industry has been getting killed over the past few years. This is the first year they have been selectively raising prices. Direct Property & Casualty writers took a little longer. Now many in in the industry are already up 50% off their Feb/March lows.
